KANTO LAMPO WATERFALL
The Majestic Water Curtain of Gianyar
Kanto Lampo Waterfall is one of Bali’s most photogenic and accessible waterfalls, located in Beng Village, Gianyar (about 30 minutes from central Ubud). Unlike many falls that plunge from a great height, Kanto Lampo cascades down a stepped rock formation, creating a wide, fan-like “water curtain.
Key Highlights
- The “Water Massage”: The terraced rocks allow you to sit directly under the cascades for a natural shoulder massage.
- Instagram Hotspot: Local “life-guard” guides are famous for their photography skills—they often help visitors stand on the best rocks and take high-angle shots using your phone (a small tip is customary).
- Hidden Cave & Valley: Downstream from the main falls, there is a shallow river canyon and a small cave that used to be a site for local meditation.
- Cultural Roots: The name comes from the Kanto Lampo tree, which bears rare orange-to-black fruit and holds spiritual significance in Balinese Hindu rituals.
